Film, Video, Newspapers, print and e-editions, Magazines, TV, Radio, News
magazines, Newsletters and other forms of organizational communication, Memos, Inter-office
messages, Books, in print and e-books, Pamphlets, Texting, phone calls, all Print
publications, Publishers and publishing houses, All video, and all internet
video production,
And I also pray for Continual Communication with God
Holy God, You alone
have all the power, You alone have all the wisdom, You know everything that
happens, and You love us and ask us to talk to You, to ask and seek and knock. You
know what is on our hearts even before we think it or speak it. Let our words
come before you as a sweet smelling sacrifice, because You love us and listen
to all our requests, listen to our prayer for all in the media today …
Father in Heaven, thank you for being a God that
communicates with us, through scripture, through creation, through the sending
of Your Son – the Living Word, and for the many different ways You speak to us
today.
Thank you for writers, producers, broadcasters and
journalists. Thank you for their talents, their abilities, and their skills in
seeking the truth.
Bless the media with integrity and wisdom.
God, we ask that You raise up godly men and women to take up
key positions, and who will champion the powerless and seek out truth and
justice.
For all those in the media create a holy desire to affect
the culture in a positive manner. May they bring knowledge and clarity to the
world around us. Help those in the media to hold to the highest professional
standards, especially when budgets are stretched, time is tight and competition
is increasing daily.
Give reporters a compassion for others as they write –
protect reporters as they cover stories in dangerous surroundings and
situations – give reporters and editors an understanding and sense of the
awesome responsibility they carry in their jobs – guide their words to show the
truth about You, and not to blind us with their agenda. Guide them to speak to
the truth about You and Who You are – protect all of Your children who are
writing with a heart for You – guide their words to shine a light in our dark
world – give them the courage to share the good news of Jesus Christ with their
readers – infuse the words of Christian writers with Your truth and light
Let our hearts not be filled with malice, frustration, or
anger, but may our hearts be filled with Your perfect love and may our minds be
filled with Your perfect truth,
Protect all Your children who work in the media. Protect
them from the arrows of the enemy. Send your angels to fight on their behalf.
I pray for my fellow reporters – move them to write with
grace, accuracy and truth. I pray for all writers that work in television,
radio, cable, Facebook, blogging, Hollywood film, independent film and all
video, those that write for news sources and newsletters of all kinds, that
they write carefully, not for sensationalizing events, but that they write to
bring understanding and honor to those they are writing about.
Speak to Your children working in the media. Give them faith
to follow You in their sometimes dark places. Give them wisdom to stand up for
Your Name. Give them strength to stand against the enemy’s charms, against
gossip, against sensationalizing, against lies.
God, give your children strength as they deal with the
pressures to write too quickly, tell half a story, sensationalize the mundane
or trivialize the important.
Guide them to protect the innocent and to err on the side of
mercy. Give them courage to stand up for Your truth in this age of deception.
Guide Your children working in the media to daily read Your Word and search the
scriptures to find the answers to their tough questions.
Father, forgive me for all the bitterness and unfairness in
my heart. Help me to speak the truth always with love. Help me to write the
truth always with love, honoring those who I write about, honoring their
families, that the truth, though difficult, will bring light to life and free
all those who read what I have written. Guard my tongue in the difficult
discussions. Let me speak and write encouragement, faith, hope and mercy.
Father, I pray for all who read, listen and watch what the
media offers. Help us to set the media aside and to listen to You before
anything else. Remind us to begin our day with You, not the news, to begin our
day with Your words, not the newspaper, to begin our day with conversations
with You, not Facebook. Help us to judge what we see and hear by Your Perfect
Word.
God, we are all media.
Let our example be Your communication with us through Your
Living Word. Give us Your words by Your Holy Spirit.
I pray this in the powerful, saving, precious Name of Jesus.
Amen
(I was honored to pray this publicly during the National Day of Prayer gathering in Galion, Ohio, May 2016.)
