Effort

Harvest time in Morrow County - RHTM

Everything takes effort.

Gardening

Vacuuming

Dusting

Dishes

Cooking

Going to work

Listening

Helping

Getting out of bed

Weeding

Planting

Studying

Shopping

Learning to do something new

Eating the right foods for my health

Exercising

Reading God’s Word

Praying

Sometimes everything takes effort, even existing when I’m sick or exhausted, or in grief.

-

God wants relationship. God is relationship and exists in relationship.

In relationship there is effort toward unity. I read God’s Word and He reveals a weakness in me or an insight I need for the day. I read God’s Word and He gives me encouragement for the hours to come or He impresses upon me something I need to do, someone to encourage, a promise to keep – sometimes a very old promise.

It takes effort to grow a relationship. It’s not just 50%-50% or even 100%-100%. It’s everything and everything – all the time – whatever that everything may be. Sometimes everything is very small. Sometimes everything ends up being beyond what I thought was possible.

In my passion to please God and help people I can go too far. I can wear myself out so that resentment oozes in. That’s why I have to listen to God. I HAVE TO let Him lead.

If I’m worn out from serving, but it is what God has told me to do, I feel tired, but blessed. And I can trust that He will renew my strength.
